Tan Thuan Industrial Promotion Company Limited (IPC) was established in the early years of the reform process (1989), with the initial aim of setting up export processing zones, in order to boost the social and economic growth of Ho Chi Minh City. Tan Thuan export processing zone which was the first project implemented in such context and Phu My Hung new urban area project was the follow up. These are also the first infrastructure projects of the whole country to attract foreign investment. Over one forth century of formation and development of IPC, nowadays, IPC has eventually become one of the leading companies in Ho Chi Minh City in investing and operating infrastructure which are used as the platform for economic and urban development. IPC has been also contributed to the implementation of City’s economic development strategy - “Moving Forward to the East Sea” and played a crucial role in promoting development of the Southern area. IPC has set up breakthrough, pioneering projects creating the premised mechanism, new strategies and new models for the development of the economy and urban area, contributed to convert boggy lands with low economic value into modern industrial and urban areas with completely synchronized infrastructure, to promote the Southern area of the City to be a modern civilized urban imbued with cultural identity.
